National coverage, a fearless rebrand and Christmas cheer


Junior Account Executive Priya Khaira-Hanks takes you through some of our highlights from December. 

Just before you settle down in front of the fire with a glass (or three) of eggnog, take a minute to catch-up with what Story’s been up to this month.

Here’s a (Christmas Selection box) of highlights

We’re all caught up in the Christmas whirlwind now, but we kicked off December with our very own Story celebration, when we finally announced our big, bold and beautiful rebrand.

The fresh Story Comms brand has been a long time coming, but it didn’t disappoint – a new look, new logo, new values (don’t worry long-time friends of Story, we kept our primary brand colour so our teal feel is going nowhere). We secured coverage in The Drum, Business Desk, Business Insider and Marketing Communications News, to name a few, as well as featuring in the PR Week round-up.

Taking the industry by storm is one thing, but we have also been delighted with the positive feedback from our clients. As we’ve been dropping our new branded merch to our clients across the country (Story Comms stickers, anyone?) and shouting about our rebrand all over social, it’s been great to hear our clients appreciating the new look.

Story might have been getting a makeover, but that doesn’t mean the client work has slowed down – quite the opposite! December saw client Berwick Partners featured in the Economist, with Head of the Real Estate and Family Office Practice Ben Ingram’s insight included in a feature on the growing opportunities for highly skilled financial professionals to enter the booming world of family offices.

This month also saw the Midlands Engine Investment Fund announcing investment milestones for BCRS Business Loans and Enterprise Loans – with the two having invested a combined £3m in SMEs since the MEIF launched in 2017.

Not ones for sitting on our hands, we also managed to squeeze in some time for learning new skills, with the core delivery team undertaking film training (watch out Spielberg!). The talented Lee from Vermillion Films led a workshop on the best way to capture high-quality on-the-go footage. The session culminated with us hitting the Birmingham German Market to record our own mini-films, but we can’t wait to put these skills to good use with clients.

We’ve been delivering united, honest and relentless comms all year, and we’re excited to see what 2019 holds – we’ll make sure to keep you posted.
